We stayed for 2 nights at the start of August. Unfortunately Foz itself isn’t the nicest of places but the hostel has a great relaxed atmosphere. The dorm room was very nice and there were male and female bathrooms…as well as a seperate loo/shower out the back.

Had the people below stayed the night they would have had the pleasure of meeting nick, the hostel owner who is a great guy and did everything possible to make us feel welcome.

The breakfast as well was outstanding and made a very welcome change from the bread and jam you are given in most other south american countries. It was the first cooked breakfast I’d had in 3 months. Also, the kitchen is very well equipped and there is always a woman cleaning!

Great location, cambio and supermarket 10 mins walk and the falls are 20ish mins by bus (bus stop 30 seconds away).

Highly recommened, thanks nick!

Awsome staff (funny and helpfull)! Best and biggest burger ever!!! Very very good location (near busstop to falls and supermarket)! Ask for “the Van” especially if you are on a romantic trip and when it’s winter :)

It was great to stay in Favela Chic, Nick is really cool and helps you out with all you need to make the best out of your time in Foz de iguazu. It´s really well located to visit both iguazu parks (brasil and argentina), and they are pretty close to all services you may need during your stay, such a supermarkets, etc… The best is the have some locals coming every now and then to the bar and barbaqueu and they love to play music and meet new people. Just bring earplugs if you´re a early sleeper

“A beautiful hostel, but better to stay there in the summer to enjoy the outside facilities. Favela chic was very cold and difficult to find a warm shower. However staff are friendly and helpful and recommended a really good restaurant around the corner.” Anonymous, England, Female, 31-40 Great location with really easy access to the falls and the airport. The lady on the desk was really friendly and helpful when I arrived. At first I was a bit daunted by the idea of a 13 bed dorm but it was actually really comfortable and pretty spacious (and no 3 tier bunks). They also cook dinner for you, although this is at an extra cost and can be quite expensive.

Stayed for one night in the van (spray-painted converted VW camper) at the end of April. The van itself is nicely done and has a double mattress on the floor and has been well painted to go with the Favela theme. It’s nice to stay in something different. The owner Nick and his staff are really friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to answer any questions you have and can recommend restaurants around town and the best way to see the sights. As the van is in the courtyard and next to the bar the noise can get unbearable especially if there are drunken people. Needless to say only got a few hours sleep. As others have said 5 minute walk to the supermarket (which also has a kilo restaurant in it) and close to the bus stop to the Brazil falls and town. Cold shower too!

I had the van which made the rest of the residence very jealous and must say its one of the best places I have spent the night. Very friendly and helpful staff with a good social bar area and one of the best burgers I have ever tasted a real stomach filler after a long day sightseeing.

This was our second time staying here and we think it’s one of the best hostels we’ve stayed in on our trip. The breakfast is great, the atmosphere and social areas are relaxed and welcoming, Nick and co are friendly, informative and helpful, the location is great and you’re a short bus ride away from the falls. What more can you want?

very nice hostel. Good breakfast. Rooms were little crowded, but managable. Bathrooms could use some upkeep. Location is a little out of the centre, but it is easy to walk. supermarket close by, nice kitchen to use. staff is really nice and helpfull. Can be a little loud in the evenings

The hosting team is extremelly helpful and will do anything to make you have a nice stay. I felt like in any other hostel around the world: young people, from all over the world, searching for bugdet accomodations, toguether with new friends and a lot of fun. The location is perfect to get by the city, the hostel “events” on the lounge/bar will provide you new friends.

I stayed here twice and had a fantastic experience both times. Never before have I looked forward to going back to a hostel! The hostel is great, nice places to chill out and clean dorms. What really makes the place though is the staff who work there, particularly Nick who was so helpful throughout our stay. The vibe was great and everyone was very friendly, we didn’t want to leave! We also had the pleasure of a delicious meal made by the chef Ed, despite requesting vegan food at short notice! I cannot recommend this hostel highly enough!

Really laid back and chilled out hostel, I quite liked the place but I can’t say it was great. You get what you paid for, no more, no less. Probably more suitable for somenone looking for a quiet place (not my case really…)

Nick and his team really know how to make you feel welcome, the hostel has a fantastic relaxed and fun atmosphere which we felt as soon as we arrived, great dorms, places to chill around the hostel and great music in the bar! The hostel is perfectly located to see the falls from both sides, the Itaipu Dam or a trip into Ciudad Del Este. Any of which Nick was more than helpful in tips and advice or organising trips for you. It has great easy access on the bus from the airport too. Overall the hostel was perfect for me and excellent value for money, I’d be sure to stay again if I ever return to Brazil!

Small hostel but very cozy, laid back vibe. Bar on site. Free breakfast, sausages and eggs!! 5 mins from super market. Best thing about this hostel by far though is nick (owner). What an absolute legend!! One of the friendliest hostel staff i have ever met, will go out o f his way to help everybody book trips to the falls, buses, taxis..anything. He is a hero :)

Favela Chic is such a good base for a trip to the Falls and has some great communal areas and outside space to hang out. Like everyone says, Nick is a great host and has put a lot of work into creating a really chilled out atmosphere and is really helpful in planning trips. I had an amazing day at the Argentine side of the Falls with some other guests, which Nick arranges transport for (including getting stamped at the border). The location is good for the Brazilian side and the bird park (the same bus from the town bus station passes the hostel and goes up to the Park entrance). The bar outside is a cool place to unwind after big days out and there’s loads of hammocks in the shade. The kitchens alright and there’s a supermarket down the road. Bed was all good, breakfast too. I had such a good trip and really liked the place.

Great hostel, it’s half outdoors so really cool. Really fantastic outdoor bar area with hammocks and sofas, really social and get to meet loads of people. Safe hostel, good break and Nick is so helpful, planned all our trips, gave us good honest advice about how to do our trips, buses and currency exchange. Brill hostel, definitely recommend!

The owner and staff are all so friendly and try to help with everything you need. Great atmosphere in the hostel between the people and very safe environment. To visit the falls the location is perfect, the bus to the Brazilian side is right on the corner of the street and they organize trips to the Argentina side for a very fair price. I booked an extra night while i was there.

Atmosphere was really good, very friendly people that try to create something else than just a simple hostel, with useful tips, different food, cheap drinks and alternative way of sleeping (tent as a room or dorm.). Location is good and connections are easy with the Falls or even the different buses.

As it opened not long ago, everything wasn’t perfect, but they try their best to offer you a pleasant stay nevertheless, don’t hesitate to tell if something bothers you, Nick will probably find a way!

Gregory, Belgium 5thApril 2012

The service was really good, the people there is really warm and polite. It’s a hostel with a different concept and has lots of things that you won’t find in other hostels like service of movies, books, the chance to sign on a van. The bar is excellent too there’s always music (classic rock for example), you can even cook a churrasco there, or even if you want to camp, wish is excellent, the kitchen is really big, complete, and always clean, and the breakfast is REALLY GOOD. We truly loved it

Ingrid, Mexico 30thMarch 2012

It is very nice everything, nice breakfast, very secure, nice people, and well located.

Laura, Colombia 30th March 2012

We absolutely loved our stay at the Favela Chic hostel. Nicholas, the owner, is one of the nicest people you will meet and was extremely accommodating in any request, question, or problem that we had. The hostel is built as an ideal place to hang around for a few days, along with being an ideal launch pad to see the Iguacu falls on both the Brazilian and Argentinean side. We also bought ticket to the Itaipu Hydro-Electric dam tour, which were cheaper than buying the tickets at the Itaipu Dam itself. There is a lovely bar in the hostel and everything is more than reasonably priced. As people who have been in hostels all over South America, New Zealand, Australia, Nepal and India, this is one of the warmest and nicest places that we have ever stayed at. This is without even mentioning the huge English breakfast and the freshly squeezed orange juice that were served in the morning, or the all around positive and lively atmosphere.

A creative place where you feel at home, Nick’s hospitality and pleasure with that welcomes its guests makes this place super recommended thanks for giving me the peace I needed.

Eladia, Sao Paolo 20th March 2012

We had decided that we would stay at the Favela Chic Hostel because it seemed the nicest place on Hostelworld. When we arrived our expectations were more than satisfied. The place is a really colourful, warm, unique and charming place. We especially liked the amount of possibilities to relax outside and the artwork which you can find everywhere in the hostel. In the end we felt kind of like it was home, also because the owners are really kind and helpful. We actually were the first people there to sleep in a tent outside, which wasn’t too different to sleeping in a bed especially because the hostel is in a really silent neighbourhood.

Maite & Anna, Germany, 16th March 2012

We have stayed a day in the Favela Chic Hostel in Foz do Iguassu. It’s a really very, very nice place, friendly staff and a very nice atmosphere. I can recommend everybody who wants to spend time in Foz do Iguassu to stay here. I have been to many hotels, hostels and luxury resorts all over the world but for me nothing beats the cosy place with the friendly staff where you feel at home and are treated as family.

So I wish the people of Favela Chic all the luck and the best to make this hostel the leading one in the area. They deserve it!

Ronald, Utrecht, Netherlands 16th March 2012

Almost better than having seen the waterfalls is the fact that we`ve stayed at this really nice hostel here. It is really unique in its style and with its familiar ambience and though it was just for one night we felt really at home here. So leaving this place we just hope that we`ll have many more experiences like this on our further travels that will take us to Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador for the next two and a half months.

Julian, Bern, Switzerland  14th March 2012

The best hostel I have stayed in so far in Brazil. Although it wasn’t even totally finished yet the staff was always very helpful. I arrived late in the afternoon but because of the staff I was still able to see the Brazilian side of the falls that day. The dorm was really cool and clean and around the hostel was a  relaxing vibe. Thank you so much Nick and Rosana for your help, good luck with everything.

Hey Ho, Fellow Travellers,

The magnificent Favela Chic Hostel!!!

Nick just opened up this nice hostel with a special flavour two weeks ago. Some parts are still under construction but you already gonna have an idea what it’s gonna be like. There’s gonna be a swimming pool, an old van that’s gonna be a private double bedroom soon. There’s a big relaxing area with a nice bar in the front, two dorms, wifi, a big kitchen, tv set and a lot of space for a hot churrasco.

So folks, I can highly recommend this unique place. It’s perfectly located for all who want to see the waterfalls on both sides or to head to Buenos Aires or the other way. Nick, the owner gonna help you out with everything.

So all I can say is: le favela chic is indeed tres chic!

Pezzy, travelling drummerboy from Linz, Austria, 8th March 2012

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the place. The ambience was very relaxed and although not everything was finished, you could see what Nick and Rosana have in mind for the hostel. We’ve enjoyed our stay at Favela Chic Hostel very much! Its location is near the bus stop and a few minutes’ walk to the supermarket and city centre. The way the hostel is designed makes you feel right at home. Combine this with a staff that will help you as much as they can and have a lot of knowledge of the surroundings and you will probably never forget your time in this hostel. Our compliments to Nick and Rosana for initiating this great hostel, we wish them good luck with fulfilling their dream!

Miranda and Thijs from Utrecht, the Netherlands, 8th March 2012

A friend and I stayed 2 nights at the Favela Chic Hostel and had an awesome time. As we arrived we were instantly welcomed as if we were family. The theme and colours of the outdoor relaxation and bar area created a nice happy environment. It was extremely clean and the couple Nick and Rosana were a great help. They organised our trip to the Argentina side of the falls and cooked the best brekkie we´ve come across in 5 months travelling. The location is a lil 15min bus ride to Foz do iguasu falls from just outside the hostel. Couldn´t ask for more really… they even offered a lift to the bus terminal.

Serena from London, England: 6th March 2012

Great hostel!! We had an awesome time there and the owners are really nice people! They just opened the place so there are small things that not done but other then that – good people really close to a bus station to the waterfalls and to the Argentinian side!! Read the directions how to get there.. Good luck with the place! And thanks for everything!!

Roi Porat, from Israel, 5th March 2012

A clean and comfortable hostel which met all our needs. The owners are friendly, very helpful and multilingual. The outside area and bar is a lovely area to relax and socialise. The hostel is spaceous with room for some quiet time if required. We stayed in the hostel just one week after opening. There are further developments to be made to the hostel such as a swimming pool and favela rooms, which will make this an even more interesting place to stay. A good supermarket is just 5 minutes away.
