We are a new hostel, owned and managed by a veteran English traveller. We are unique (as our name indicates), passionate about travelling and fully committed to providing an outstanding service to travellers. Our aim is for your stay here to be very memorable.
A sense of freedom
We love travelling and sense of freedom that this brings. We understand this & aim to be a little different.
We do our utmost to create a fun, lively & sociable atmosphere so that you will always remember your time in Foz do Iguassu, not just for the incredible experience of visiting the greatest waterfalls in the world, but also because you found a homely, relaxed and creative atmosphere to hang out in. Our goal is that you will look back on your time here as one of your most memorable in South America.
Our hammocks are set in grounds with lots of trees and an outdoor relaxation area which includes a magnificent & peaceful fountain.
Active bar
Our active bar is a place where you can meet travellers from throughout the world. A pool table has been ordered. Oh, and we play great music too.
We aim to do the basics outstandingly well: a great breakfast (including cooked treats), free WiFi, 24 hour reception and help with all your travel needs – especially budget travel throughout South America.
Ticket and tour assistance
We can offer advice & discounted tickets for the many attractions here with affordable tours (including the “must do” trip to the Falls in Argentina which we believe will be one of the most memorable days of your life).
If we cannot answer any of your questions, we will do our best to find the answer for you.
Free daily yoga class
We offer a free yoga class before supper. The yoga is open to all – beginners are especially welcome. The classes are held subject to there being sufficient demand on any given day.
Photography workshops to bring out your creativity
We also run photographic workshops each Full Moon in this stunning environment to help you bring out your creative genius within. These are open to experienced photographers as well as keen amateurs. They too are subject to sufficient demand.
We also offer a book library (for those of your who are not yet fully committed e-readers). Nothing would give us more pleasure than if you found the book you’ve always wanted to read in our library. Book swapping is encouraged.
We also have a free DVD library (from the Blues Brothers to the Coen Brothers) for your enjoyment.
We have regular BBQ nights & our kitchen is well stocked, and boasts a beautiful tiled floor made up of broken tiles.
We have ordered a swimming pool. We can’t wait for it to arrive!
Accomodation
We currently have two dormitories, which will as much as possible be designated as male and female rooms wherever possible, with adjoining bathrooms. However most of the time it is a mixed dormitory.
The second dormitory can also double up as a private double room when required.
We have now completed phase 1 of our building project and are about to build several private rooms constructed from high quality wood, and will shortly be offering a truly oustanding private double room in a disused old van. We challenge anyone to find a more original accommodation anywhere in South America!
Favela look
The accommodation has been designed with a Favela feel, using authentic wood with original Favela coloured paints, and we have recycled objects in original and creative ways. Favelas undeniably have a unique architectural look about them, and are instantly recognisable in all major Brazilian cities.
Anyone who has seen the film City of God, or read Peter Robb’s brilliant book A Death in Brazil about the history and culture of Brazil, will know just how explosive favelas can be.
Chic
We have been inspired by the look and feel of the Favela – but not the lifestyle or the violence associated with them, you will only find peace and love here! We have added a sense of chic by introducing some style. The bar, the pool table (on order), the kitchen – are all stylish elements to be set against the Favela look.
In addition one of the things that you will notice on arrival at our hostel, is the photographic work on display. These too add the sense of chic by way of contrast.
Your needs
I have travelled widely throughout the world, and stayed in more cheap hotels, and hostels, than I care to remember. Travelling has always been in my blood ever since I did a couple of month long Inter Rail trips as a teenager before going overland from London to Kathmandu as an 18 year old. I believe that I have an instinctive feel for what travellers look for, and our aim is to provide this.
We aim to provide for all of your budget travel needs.
